Four fragrances.
Every one of them is printed here as what it is: a list of materials and the hour each stops. The accords are not secret; the proportions are.
-
Orris & Ash
£145 · 50 ml eau de parfum · 18% · 2019
Cold root over a fire that has gone out.
TopBergamot · Black pepper
HeartOrris · Rose absolute
BaseOakmoss · Frankincense
The house fragrance, and the one everything else is measured against. It opens sharp and closes dry, and there is a forty-minute stretch in the middle where the orris is doing all of the work on its own. Some people find that stretch empty. We have left it in twice now.
-
The Long Afternoon
£145 · 50 ml eau de parfum · 16% · 2021
Cut grass, a white flower, and nowhere to be.
TopNeroli
HeartLavender · Jasmine
BaseHay absolute · Sandalwood
Built around hay absolute, which is a difficult material to sell and an easy one to wear. The neroli is there to stop the opening reading as agricultural. It works for about seven hours and then the barn arrives.
-
Vyse Street
£145 · 50 ml eau de parfum · 20% · 2023
Metal dust, workshop doors open, the end of a shift.
TopBlack pepper
HeartLavender
BaseOakmoss · Sandalwood · Frankincense
The most concentrated thing we make and the least floral. It was drawn from the street the bench is on, which is a jewellery quarter and smells of solder and rain. Two of the six people on the panel would not wear it. That is a good sign.
-
Blotter Twelve
£145 · 50 ml eau de parfum · 15% · 2024
One material, undiluted by company.
BaseFrankincense
Frankincense and the alcohol it is cut with, and nothing else. It is not an accord, it is a material with a price on it, and we sell it because people kept asking what the base smelled like on its own. It does not settle, because there is nothing in it to settle out of.
