Why we refill bottles instead of selling new ones

A heavy glass bottle is the most expensive and least necessary part of a fragrance. Here is how our refill service works and why it costs a third less.

The bottle is the part of a fragrance you pay for and never smell. Ours are heavy, square and made to last for decades, so it has never made sense to us to sell you a new one every five months.

How it works

Order a refill on the fragrance page. We email you a prepaid label; you post the empty bottle back to the bench. We clean it, refill it from the current batch, fit a new seal and write the batch number on a fresh tag. It is usually back with you within a week of reaching us.

Why it costs £96

A 50 ml bottle is £145. Around a third of that is glass, cap, box and the post of sending a new one. A refill needs none of those, so it costs £96 — and it is the same fragrance, from the same batch as the new bottles going out that week.

What we cannot refill

Bottles that are cracked, or that held another brand’s fragrance. We will tell you before we charge you, and post the bottle back free.

If you have been putting off a second bottle because it feels wasteful, see the refill details.
